| UNHOLY
THREE
This bizarre Tod Browning directed Lon
Chaney vehicle marks the first time the
pair ventured into the world of chilling,
macabre silent films, which included West
of Zanzibar, The Unknown, and The Black
Bird.
Lon Chaney plays Echo, a sideshow ventriloquist.
He cooks up a scam with two other members
of the sideshow — Hercules, the
strong man (Victor McLaglen), and Tweedledee,
a midget (Harry Earles). Echo assumes
the role of a kindly old grandmother who
runs a bird shop. Tweedledee, the "twenty
inch man," becomes her grandbaby,
and Hercules is their assistant. Soon
an incredible crime wave is launched from
their little store as they all use their
“gifts” to rip people off
in an elaborate scam that involves fake
talking parrots and a pet gorilla.
This disc also includes the 1923 Browning
silent film The White Tiger about three
crooks who pull off a magnificent crime.
As they're forced to hide out together
they slowly begin to distrust each other.
