Homer
Homer is the story of a young man living in the
late 1960’s, trying to live his life the way
he wants to. The film takes place in a small conservative
Wisconsin town where Homer lives with his family.
He has a rock band and dreams of leaving his mid
western roots and spreading his wings socially and
consciously. With the dark specter of the Vietnam
war looming in the background, Homer is a subtle
film about the struggle to remain an individual
in the face of family and social expectations. Offering
an impressive soundtrack for a low-budget film,
“Homer” is especially notable for being
the first film to feature a song by Led Zeppelin.
Portions of the song “How Many More Times,”
which was released on the album “Led Zeppelin
I” in January 1969, are played three times
during the course of the film.
