The
Birth of Electronic Music
Celebrate the beauty of the futuristic genre
of music that is electronic! This disc starts
off with a two-part filmstrip detailing
the history of electronic music. Part one
looks at the history from 400 BC (!) to
1950 and part two picks up in the 50's and
takes us into the early 70's. Profiling
such artists as Paul Hindemith, Walter (Wendy)
Carlos, and such electronic instruments
as the Dynamaphone and the Ondes Martenot,
this strip is a fascinating overview of
the surprising versatile musical genre.Following
that is the truly amazing Sid Laverents’outsider
film Multiple SIDosis. Made in 1969 the
film finds Sid waking up Christmas morning
to discover that his wife has gotten him
Akai M8 reel to reel recording deck, which
he opens and begins recording a multi tracked
version of his song Nola. The film has a
strange almost psychedelic quality once
Sid reaches his full multi track recording
abilities. Needles to say, this a must see
work of bizarro art.
