Confessions
of a Blue Movie Star
The film begins as a documentary about the
making of a porno film. During the 14-day
shoot the leading lady, Claudia Fielers,
commits suicide. Quickly the film goes from
documenting a porno film production to documenting
a snuff film. An un credited narrator equates
Fielers’ suicide and the very business
of pornography to that of snuff filmmaking
while an unexpected Hell’s Angel biker,
wearing a paper bag over his head, introduces
“real snuff” footage (which
is actually nothing more than Last House
on the Left out takes!). As the documentary
progresses, facts become more and more muddled
and the actual authenticity of it grows
more and more questionable. It’s hard
to tell once the film concludes whether
or not we have just seen a documentary or
a mockumentary. No matter what the film
is, it's certainly fascinating to watch
unfold, without a doubt a near genre unto
itself.
